In October 2012, a Russian record was set at the well no. 161, pad no. 11 of the V-Salymanskogo field. During a 15-hour run, a string core (78.93 m) was drilled and brought to the surface with a 100% return.

Additional Information

  • The core samplers are equipped with centralizers. The diameter is selected by the drilling bit diameter.
  • The thread of the lower sub can be changed when using special drilling bits.
  • For weakly cemented rocks core sampling, KIM-195/100 barrels can be additionally equipped with plastic cut-out core receivers.
  • The KIM operation practically does not differ from the technology of coring with the Nedra shell, which does not require the adaptation of the drilling crew to coring using the isolation technology. The difference is in the KIM preparation. Before lowering the barrel, the cavity of the core receiver is filled with an insulating agent.

Methodological and Regulatory Base for Work Maintenance

The isolation technology performing the procedure is regulated by the Methodological Guide for the Isolated Core Selection and Analysis, co-authored by the Tyumen research and production enterprises SibBurMash, SibCore, and Tyumengeofizika.

The guidelines have been approved and recommended by the following departments and organizations:

  • State Reserves Commission under the Ministry of Natural Resources of the RF;
  • Central Development Commission under the Ministry of Energy of the RF;
  • Federal Mining and Industrial Inspectorate of Russia;
  • The Technical Committee for Standardization for Geological Study of Subsoil;
  • The subsection of R&D scientific and technical cooperation of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia.
